Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski will arrive in Sri Lanka on Wednesday at the head of a high-level 11-member European Union delegation for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. The delegation is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with top Sri Lankan government leaders, including President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Harini Amarasooriya, and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.

The discussions, set to take place in Colombo, will focus on revitalizing political and economic relations between Sri Lanka and the European Union. The delegation is expected to explore opportunities in trade, investment, and strategic cooperation, including proposals to enhance collaboration between Sri Lankan and Polish seaports.

This visit marks a significant step in President Dissanayake’s efforts to forge stronger ties with European nations, particularly as Poland plays a growing role within the EU framework. The presence of Minister Sikorski—an influential figure in European diplomacy—highlights the importance of this engagement.

In addition to economic and political matters, the visit will also include discussions on the evolving security landscape in Europe and the Indian Ocean region, reflecting shared concerns over global and regional stability.

Sri Lanka and Poland share long-standing diplomatic relations grounded in mutual respect and cooperation. The upcoming visit is expected to reaffirm this friendship and open new avenues for bilateral collaboration in the years ahead.
