A total of 94,037 dengue cases have been reported across Sri Lanka so far this year, according to health authorities.
The highest number of cases was recorded in July, with 29,962 cases. Meanwhile, 21,533 cases were reported in June, while 8,701 cases have been recorded so far in August.
Monthly figures show that 7,866 cases were reported in January, 5,721 in February, 6,013 in March, 5,651 in April and 8,590 in May.
The Western Province accounts for 52.93% of all dengue cases reported in the country, with 49,771 cases recorded from the province.
The Southern Province has reported 13,763 cases, while 8,519 cases have been reported from the Central Province.
At district level, Gampaha has recorded the highest number of dengue cases, with 20,034 cases.
Colombo has reported 18,652 cases, including 3,787 cases within the Colombo Municipal Council area.
Meanwhile, 6,818 cases have been reported from Kandy, 6,093 from Kalutara, 6,079 from Galle, 5,160 from Ratnapura, 5,003 from Matara, 2,713 from Kegalle, 2,651 from Kurunegala and 2,510 from Hambantota.
A total of 76 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas across the country have been identified as high-risk areas for dengue.
Health authorities have urged the public to regularly clean and destroy mosquito breeding sites and to seek prompt medical attention from a qualified doctor if they develop a fever.
