Zimbabwe beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets

Zimbabwe levelled the series 1-1 after defeating Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the 2nd T20 International match today (16 Jan.) at RPS in Colombo.

With this, both teams have one win each in the three-match series, with the 3rd and final T20 match scheduled for 18 January set to be the tie-breaker.

Having strategically chosen to bowl first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe restricted Sri Lanka to a score of 176 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the first 20 overs of the game, with Charith Asalanka scoring 69 runs off of 39 balls, and Angelo Mathews scoring 66 runs off of 51 balls.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe scored 178 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in a nail-biting second half, with Craig Erwine scoring a stunning 70 runs off of 54 balls, while Luke Jongwe scored 25 runs off of 12 balls.

Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera put up a fight with their bowling, with the former having taken 2 wickets in 25 balls, and the latter having supported him with another 2 wickets in 30 balls.

The two teams are set to lock horns for the third T20 ON 18 January, which will be the last match of Zimbabwe’s Tour of Sri Lanka.
