Colombo Kochchikade St. Anthony’s Church’s 189th annual festival begins with flag hoisting on Saturday (3) and the festival is celebrated today. Mass was offered at 6 am before the flag hoisting last Saturday.

After the flag hoisting, daily worship services for the festival were offered at 6 pm till Sunday 11th. On Monday the 12th at 7 pm, the vespers mass was held under the leadership of the Archbishop of Colombo Diocese, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith.

Today, the 13th day of the festival, Masses were offered at 4 am in Tamil language, 5 am in Sinhala language and 6 am in Tamil language.

Meanwhile, the solemn mass was celebrated today at 8 am in Tamil language under the leadership of Vice-Bishop Anran Ranjith of Colombo Archdiocese.

At 10 a.m., Mass will be offered in Sinhala under the leadership of District Deputy Bishop Maxwell Silva and at 12 noon under the leadership of District Deputy Bishop Anrani Jayakodi in English.

Following this, the procession of St. Anthony’s statue will start from St. Lucy’s Cathedral in Kotahena at 5 pm and reach St. Anthony’s Church at 8 pm and the festival will conclude with the blessing of St. Anthony’s statue.
