Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa has been summoned by the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record a statement regarding alleged contempt of court.
According to reports, Weerawansa has been notified to present himself before the CID at 10:00 AM this coming Friday (02).
The summons follows a formal complaint lodged with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), alleging that the former minister made statements derogatory to the judiciary during a public rally organized by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) in Anuradhapura.
Acting on the directives of the IGP, the CID initiated a special investigation into the matter. Officials are set to record Weerawansa’s statement to determine further legal action.
